Mack David was an American lyricist and songwriter, who helped write the songs for the films: Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland with fellow songwriters Al Hoffman and Jerry Livingston. He also contributed to music on an earlier Disney project, Bambi

Originally studying to be an attorney, David began writing for New York's Tin Pan Alley and the success prompted him to be a fulltime songwriter. Throughout his career, David would receive 8 Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song, one of which was "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" from Cinderella. He would go on to write the title song for movies like The Hanging Tree, Bachelor in Paradise, Walk on the Wild Side, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte and The Blob.

David also wrote or co-wrote several other songs during his career such as "Sunflower", "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine", "Rain, Rain, Go Away", "Baby It's You", the theme song to Casper the Friendly Ghost and an English version of the popular tune "La Vie en rose".

In 1975, David was granted a patent for inventing "an electronic system for composing songs from fractional recordings. The system, which included playback units, stored records of lyrics and melodies. The operator selected words and music that fit together and recorded the combination."
