Maddox Hatter is an inquisitive and irrepressibly curious Science teacher, tutor and friend of Red. Maddox is also more grounded, thoughtful and caring unlike his father.

In Descendants: The Rise of Red, at a momentous celebration in Auradon, an unexpected chaos breaks out and in order to prevent an impending coup Maddox teams up with Red and Chloe Charming. Maddox then creates a magical pocket watch and is used by Red and Chloe to travel back in time to when both of their parents where teenagers and attended Merlin Academy, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.
