Maggie Nelson is the sole female major character in Angels in the Outfield. She is the keeper of the foster home where she raises Roger Bowman, J.P., and for less time, Miguel. For some reason, she does not go to baseball games, but she does believe in angels. At one point, she attends the press conference.
Trivia[]
- Angela Lansbury was the first choice for the role of Maggie because of her close relationship with The Walt Disney Company and they thought Lansbury would've been a great choice because of Lansbury's performance in Bedknobs and Broomsticks as Miss Eglantine Price in which Lansbury played a caretaker for children looking for a home, but however Lansbury was busy with Murder She Wrote and wasn't cast.
- Betty White, Bea Arthur, and Joan Plowright were also considered for the role of Maggie. [citation needed]
