- “Malachor isn't a person. It's a place.”
- ―Ahsoka Tano
Malachor is a rocky, hellish wasteland planet shrouded in mystery and is affiliated with the Sith. Thousands of years ago, the Sith established themselves on Malachor, evidenced by a Sith Temple located on the planet, deep underground. Malachor was the site of a terrible battle called the "Great Scourge of Malachor" in which the Jedi launched an all-out assault on the temple in order to prevent a superweapon hidden within from being utilized against the galaxy. The battle ended with both sides losing their lives when said superweapon malfunctioned or misfired. Following this incident, Jedi were banned from going near Malachor, and legends grew around it. Debris and the bodies of the fallen warriors (petrified forevermore by the weapon's blast) littered the battlefield. In the early years of the Rebel Alliance, Ezra, Kanan, and Ahsoka visited Malachor to find knowledge that might help them defeat the Sith, and would encounter Darth Maul here during his time in hiding from the Empire.
