Maleficent is the official motion picture soundtrack to the movie Maleficent, the songs written and composed by James Newton Howard who also worked on music for Dinosaur, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet. The soundtrack also includes Lana Del Rey's adaptation of "Once Upon a Dream" from the 1959 film, Sleeping Beauty which was used as the title song for Maleficent. Del Rey was handpicked by Angelina Jolie to perform the song. The single was released on January 26 and was made available for free for a limited time through Google Play.
The the soundtrack holds twenty-three tracks, twenty-two of the movie score and the song "Once Upon a Dream". The soundtrack was release in stores on May 27, 2014 by Intrada Records.
