Maliboomer was an attraction in the Paradise Pier section of Disney California Adventure. It was an S&S Power "Space Shot" attraction, which meant that it launched guests from the bottom of the tower instead of slowly lifting them to the top and then dropping them back to the bottom. It was pneumatically powered, with all three towers having independent ride systems. It also contained "Scream Shields", used to block the screams from reaching residents near the ride.
As part of the park's multi-year $1.1 billion expansion, the ride was originally planned to be remodeled, but it was later announced that it would not survive the expansion and instead be replaced by Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind at the Pixar Pier section of Disney California Adventure in 2019. Its last operating day was September 6, 2010 and the dismantling began shortly afterwards. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind opened in its place on June 28, 2019.
Concept
The concept of the ride came from a space-themed version of the popular "test your strength" attraction on many boardwalks and carnivals. The concept was that men test their strength by hitting a mallet and ringing the bell, impressing their dates and winning them large stuffed animals. Its name also hinted at this theme, since it alluded to the beach town of Malibu, California.
