Maria Collins Carbonell Stark, also known as Maria Stark, was the wife of Howard Stark.
On May 29, 1970, she and her husband had a son together. His name was Tony Stark.
On December 16, 1991, she and her husband were assassinated by Bucky Barnes in Siberia, Russia.

Iron Man 2
While Maria does not physically appear, she is mentioned during Howard Stark's recording of the Stark Expo in 1974. Howard calls out to Maria when Tony is interrupting Howard's video he is making for his son.
Captain America: Civil War
Maria appears during a hologram presentation Tony Stark is showing to university students, showing how he wishes he had said goodbye to his parents on December 16, 1991, when he was unaware they would soon be killed by the Winter Soldier. Steve Rogers learns that Bucky murdered Maria and Howard when he was the Winter Solider, when Maria and Howard were on the way to the Bahamas for Christmas. Tony was 21 years old and staying at home on that fatal night. Steve keeps Bucky's secret from Tony, until Baron Zemo reveals the footage in order to tear the Avengers apart. Tony is shown the footage of the Winter Soldier strangling Maria and beating Howard to death, to make it look like a car accident. Shocked and distraught, Tony asks Steve if he knew about Bucky killing his parents, to which Steve tries to deny until Tony threatens him. Steve eventually confesses he knew, much to Tony's horror. In a fit of anger, Tony tries to kill Bucky and a fight between the trio breaks out. Steve tries to stop Tony from killing Bucky, but Tony doesn't care since Bucky killed his mother. This leads to Tony being hurt and Steve leaving with Bucky and abandoning his shield for the next seven years.
Avengers: Endgame
When Tony and Steve Rogers time travelled back to April 7, 1970, Tony encountered an alternate version of his father, who mentioned that Maria was pregnant with their son, whom they hadn't chosen a name for yet. Howard mentioned that Maria was at the point where she couldn't stand the sound of his chewing and Tony realised that his alternate mother was towards the end of her pregnancy, as she would give birth to Tony within a month.

Maria married Howard Stark, who became a devoted husband despite being a womanizer during his youth. He is also the CEO of Stark Industries before.
Tony Stark
Maria's intelligent son, Tony Stark was born on May 29, 1970. After Maria and Howard's death, Tony became the CEO of Stark Industries.
Winter Soldier
Maria was killed by Barnes who was known as the Winter Soldier. Her husband, Howard was also killed. Barnes was the ally of Captain America and the Howling Commandos during their battle against H.Y.D.R.A..
Trivia
- Maria was set to appear in Iron Man 3, but her scenes were cut.
- It was originally believed that Maria and Howard's deaths happened on December 27, 1991, but Captain America: Civil War revealed that they died on the 16th.
- Maria Stark was due to appear in an alternate opening sequence for Iron Man 3, in which Tony Stark tried to cheer her up after she got in a fight with Howard. However, though the sequence was shot, it didn't make the final cut of the film.[1]
