Mark Stephen Waters is the husband of Dina Spybey-Waters and an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is probably best known for directing the 2004 teenage comedy Mean Girls. He also directed as well as executive-produced other films such as Head over Heels, Just Like Heaven, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Mr. Popper's Penguins, and Vampire Academy.

Aside from directing, Waters produced the 2005 comedy Sorry, Haters and the 2009 drama 500 Days of Summer.

For Disney, he directed the 1997 Miramax Films comedy The House of Yes and the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday. He is currently set to direct the upcoming 2019 film, Magic Camp.
