Martin John C. Freeman (born September 8, 1971) is an English actor who is best known for his roles as Tim Canterbury on the BBC sitcom The Office from 2001 to 2003, Watson in the TV series Sherlock (with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock) and Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit film trilogy.
He played Arthur Dent in the 2005 Touchstone Pictures film The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
