Mary Wickes was an American film and television character actress.
For Disney, she served as the live-action model for Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmatians and lent her voice to the character Freckles in the film. Wickes did the voice of Laverne in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, in what would be her final role before her death from complications from surgery; she did not record all her lines before she died, and Jane Withers was brought in to record the rest of them. Withers later provided the voice of Laverne in The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, which was released in 2002, seven years after Wickes' death.
Wickes is known for her role as Sister Mary Lazarus in Sister Act and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit with Whoopi Goldberg. She also played Clara in Napoleon and Samantha, Miss Wigginton in Snowball Express, and Katie in the Annette serial on TV's The Mickey Mouse Club.
