Mattel, Inc. is an American toy manufacturing company founded in 1945 with headquarters in El Segundo, California. Although not owned by Disney, in a first for marketing, Mattel became a year-round sponsor of the Mickey Mouse Club in 1955. In Toy Story, Rex told Buzz Lightyear that he's from Mattel, but before then, he was actually from a smaller company that was purchased by Mattel in a leveraged buyout. The company now produces toys based on Toy Story, Cars, and Disney Junior shows. They formerly had the license to Disney Princess and Frozen dolls, but the rights were sold to Hasbro in 2016.
