"Merc's Night Out" is the second segment of the forty-first episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on October 22, 2016 alongside "Galactech: Still Rocketing", and is the second segment of the eleventh episode in the second season.

Plot[]

Miles is busy cleaning his room at night when M.E.R.C., who acts strangely, messes it up again. Miles informs his parents of the situation. Afterwards, Miles shows them that M.E.R.C. is in Miles' bed instead of his. Miles then shows his parents that M.E.R.C. does not like Booster Bites. This leads to Leo checking the problem: M.E.R.C. has a lot of errors, which explains the strange behavior. Leo also tells Miles that this happens when computers and machines are on too long, and says that M.E.R.C. needs to be rebooted, to which Phoebe says that it is like taking a nap and then waking up all refreshed. Leo says that since all of M.E.R.C.'s parts are being tested, Miles should not be surprised if he gets up and walks around a bit, even while asleep. After M.E.R.C. goes into his bed, Leo reboots him, and reassures Miles that this will fix him. The Callistos then leave Miles' bedroom, and Miles goes to sleep with M.E.R.C.

Sometime later, M.E.R.C. walks around and heads out of Miles' room just as Miles wakes up. He starts chasing M.E.R.C., and also captures the attention of Loretta. Meanwhile, Leo and Phoebe are playing holo-table tennis in the living room when they hear the sounds. Afterwards, the Callistos confront each other, and Miles and Loretta say that they did not make the noise, but M.E.R.C. did, since he was not in bed. Leo did not mean M.E.R.C. walking around the whole ship while rebooting. Phoebe asks Stella where M.E.R.C. is. Stella says that he is in the hangar, then in the launch bay, then no longer on the ship. Once the Callistos see that, they follow him in the Star Jetter.

Loretta then finds out through her Bracelex that M.E.R.C. is heading towards a young planet called Willomar, which is so young, that the aliens who live there, the Willos, don't have any technology yet, and only get around by walking. Loretta also finds out that Tomorrowland Transit Authority reports say that the Willos don't know anything about life beyond their world, and that seeing a robot or a human could scare them. The Callistos soon land at the night side of the planet, and follow M.E.R.C. to a village where the Willos live. They split up to find M.E.R.C., but can't find him, since M.E.R.C. blended in with the background. At one point, Miles heads into the room where M.E.R.C. was, but stopped when a Willo yawned. Once Miles headed outside, he lost M.E.R.C. After more searching and when daytime gets close, the Callistos agree to go through the village again when M.E.R.C. walks past him and onto a wheelbarrow. After the Callistos tell M.E.R.C. to get off, M.E.R.C. jumps off the wheelbarrow, causing the rocks inside of it to crash into a rock wall holding back water. The Callistos try to plug the holes with the rocks, but soon back away. Leo comes up with an idea of using hard light fencing to hold back the water, but Phoebe says that the Willos would not understand what that tech is, and could scare them. Miles only says that this happens when the fencing is on the outside, and comes up with an idea of installing it on the inside, where nobody would see it. Miles then grabs four poles from the Star Jetter, and lends them to Phoebe, Leo, and Loretta. The Callistos soon activate their spacesuits' Aqua Mode, and install the fencing, which holds back the water. M.E.R.C. even stops by to take a drink from the water.

Daylight has come to Willomar, and Miles finds M.E.R.C. with one of the Willos. Miles tells the Willo that he has to take M.E.R.C. back with him, and the Willo says goodbye. Once arriving back at the Star Jetter, Miles tells M.E.R.C. that he would never let him get away again. Miles then tells the Callistos that Willos are ready to start meeting people from space, to which the Callistos agree to tell the TTA about it. They then leave the planet, while the Willos look at the different footprints. The Willo who M.E.R.C. made friends with points at the sky, and tells another about it.

Back at the Stellosphere, Leo completes M.E.R.C.'s reboot, and the Callistos decide to sleep in for the day. However, M.E.R.C., who is feeling energized, plays with Miles, and shortly afterwards, Miles agrees to tell M.E.R.C. about his night out. The Callistos decide to stay up and make galactic pancakes for themselves, and Booster Bites for M.E.R.C., who likes them again. Back at Willomar, the Willos look back at the launch site.

Trivia[]

  • "Merc's Night Out" is a reference to the saying "Girl's Night Out".
  • This is the first time a mission takes place at night instead of the day.
  • This is the third time the Callistos activate their spacesuits' Aqua Mode after "The Mystery of Atlantix" and "Miles Underwater", and the only time they do so without M.E.R.C.
