Merlin was a great and powerful wizard, and a character from the film The Sorcerer's Apprentice. He was portrayed by James A. Stephens.
History
Merlin was a powerful magician that worked as a servant in the kingdom of Camelot.
During his service in the kingdom, Merlin looked after a young girl named Morgana le Fay Morgana was a witch that needed help practicing magic. Therefore, Merlin took Morgana under his wing and taught her the sacred art of sorcery.
For years Merlin looked after Morgana with love and care, until she betrayed him by dabbling in the dark arts. Merlin tried reaching out to Morgana by warning her not to tamper with black magic, however, his warning was not heeded.
Shortly after Morgana’s betrayal, Merlin took on three apprentices, Balthazar Blake, Maxim Horvath, and Veronica Gorloisen, in his attempt to stop the evil witch.
Unfortunately, Merlin was betrayed once again, this time by Horvath. He distracted Merlin after he appeared to have Morgana beaten. Morgana then stabbed and mortally wounded Merlin. As he was dying, Merlin gave his Dragon Ring to Balthazar. He also charged him to find the Prime Merlinean, the olny one who could destroy Morgana.
