The infoboxes are as they should be, and do not need any special adjustments to recognize Disney Legends. The contents and categories are enough to explain what the articles are about and that's all you need.
Hi Alex2424121, I'd point out that Infoboxes are intended to give a quick visual summary of the subject particulars and Wikipedia highlights significant awards in their info boxes. Disney Legends award is the Walt Disney Company's highest recognition, and there are a number of honorees now. While the contents and categories can present the information, as is it is easily overlooked.
I'm curious as to what would be the objection to Disney wiki infobox's highlighting that significant Disney honor?
I would also suggest that those individuals honored with Windows on Main Street may be deserving of infobox notation as well.
I addresed my suggestions to the 2 admins and 2 bureaucrats to hopefully start a wider discussion.
Minimally, if we were to follow Wikipedia's format, then a box for awards could be added to the infobox. Being a Disney Wiki though, my suggestion of changing the color for such honorees is a cosmetic suggestion that could help highlight those individuals deemed significant by the company to receive the prestigious honor. Again, Wikipedia has a color coded banding system that catgorizes subject matter.
Another info box modification suggestion which could also be considered, and which Wikipedia allows, is a subject's autograph signature.
We are not Wikipedia, we are Disney Wiki. Things here are done differently, and it doesn't involve the usage of special modifications to mark people who are Disney Legends. In fact it could cause a great deal problems within the community. Users will start marking people who are not Disney Legends. They will be basing the claims from their own personal perspective. There will be endless arguing and revert wars, and we certainly can't have that.
The only highlighting we do is Article of the Week, and featured songs/shorts.
The celebrity pages will be treated like all the others, which it has been for many years.
I understand this is not Wikipedia and things are done differently. Both, however, are collaborative information platforms and share commonalities. I'm uncertain why you appear so resistant to suggestions for improvements to the wiki? Especially when the suggestion is only toward helping present specific and highly relevant information in a more visible (and fun) fashion?
I hear your objection, as a moderator, is possible concerns about functionality and, understandably, wishing to avoid potential conflicts. A simple solution then: only provide that specific functionality to moderators or admins. They would have the sole ability to designate those individual pages as honorees of the equivalent of Disney's Hall of Fame.
With a finite number of individuals (only 276 Disney Legends currently) designated or awarded the honor(s), it wouldn't be too big a task. Allowing a reader (comprised of both fans and non-fans) a quick visual glance of the page to know that the subject has a Window on Main Street and/or is a Disney Legend is worthy of further consideration and discussion.
Edited to add: Wow Alex, I note your own info box on your profile page is stuffed with info and yet you are so resistant to allowing such a notable aspect as I've suggested be reflected in infobboxes on subject pages? If not an infobox - What about something like a user box or band at the bottom of the subject's page to help highlight this significat aspect of this individual? Again, with the functionality only being accessible to modeators or admins. Would you be open to considering that?
Edited again to add: I note, like on the bottom of the Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather page there is a Sleeping Beauty user box that links Sleeping Beauty content together. Could a box similar to that be created for Disney Legends that could conect all of them? (Wikipedia does that with like albums by music artists - it leads you to the next and the next). This way it would be a more visible signifier of the honor on the individuals page and a way to improve the info flow? I would even volunteer to design the banner/box, and do the linking/editing work to set it up.
I've had responses from the other admins & bureacrats on my initial suggestion, and I'm pleased SilverFlight & Hey1234 both indicated some interest in the idea. SilverFlight has said she wished to further discuss with community and staff first, so I will respectfully wait to hear what may be decided as an overall direction before moving forward in creating anything new in this vein.
if all believe that a simple navbox soloution is desired, I'm happy to create it (mindful however that it wouldn't seem to address your previous concerns and objection about the community potentially mismarking Legends and avoiding revert wars).
