What you don't understand is that those allegations lack any real basis or support. Aside from the racist aspects of some of the films, that is. And that's why they're so commonly ignored. It's not a matter of painting Walt as a saint, but a matter of focusing on the truth and full-fledged proof of him as a person, instead of going with conspiracy theories just because they're somewhat popular. And these theories, should I also note, didn't pop up until after his death, and came from nowhere, as confirmed by Richard Sherman and Floyd Newman, who knew and worked with Walt personally.
As a politics student with a special interest in the media, I understand perfectly well thank you. But I'm afraid you are mistaken. He was criticised by the NAACP during his lifetime, and for his assocition with the Nazis, and anti-semitic groups. That is unequivocal, and I have included references. Also, his grandniece spoke from knowing him personally. As you may have noticed I included both sides. It may be more comforatble for you to focus on his positives, but that isn't how truth works.
His grandniece was no more than six years old by the time of his passing, and you're taking her word over Richard Sherman and Floyd Newman, two fully grown men who both worked with Walt for a number of years, and held a close relationship with him; specifically Richard Sherman.
Have you seen the recent PBS documentary, American Experience: Walt Disney? Guess what? They never tocuhed on the anti-Semitic allegations, and not because Disney interfered. They weren't allowed to interfere. They didn't even see the documentary until it aired publically, so they were hopeless to taking out anything that painted Walt in an even remotely negative light. No, they didn't touch upon it because there was no basis. No hard, stern proof. Allegations from a source, no matter how large in scale like the NAACP, cannot be validated without stern proof, and there was none. And so, we're not going to touch upon it either, because as far as truth is concerned, we'd be writing fan fiction.
I'm sorry but if you do not believe the NAACP is a valid source on racism then it lead me to believe you are at best slightly right-wing. Whether or not you consider the allegation to have basis, the fact is there are allegations. And if you want hard, stern proof, Disney's membership of an Anti-Semitic body and association with a Nazi is documented. David Swift, who also worked with Disney, described his racism. And perhps the best source is Neal Gabler who has had unrivalled access to Disney record and has produced the most thoroughly researched book on the subject. His conclusion was that Disney was racially insenstive, happily using terms like n***erpile. If you would like another source, an analysis of Song of the South authored by Jason Sperb and published by the University of Texas is available. It is well accepted in modern academia that Disney was racist, be it because of his times or his beliefs.
I'm a person of color, my friend. There's nothing right-wing about me, or those I've grown up around. I'm giving you clear-cut reasons to go against your allegations (Key word here: "allegations"; a fancy word for rumors), and you choose to ignore them. They contradict literally everything you're giving me.
You have not provided any credible evidence that Disney was not anti-Semitic. Do explain his membership of MPAPAI, his documented associated with the Nazi propagandist, Art Babbits claims he attended German American Bund meetings or his comments to David Swift. None of those are deniable.
I read them, one can be rejected as biased (Disney is not a reliable source on Disney controversy), the other just claims Walt Disney was not vehemently anti-Semitic. Neither properly address the issue.
There's a reason they weren't "properly addressed". No strong basis.
And did you know the Disney Family Museum, and the defense of Walt was courtesy of his daughter, Diane? You used his grandniece, who was no more than six when he died, as a basis for your claims, as well as individuals who did not know him, and fry to use them against his daughter, who was a full fledged adult by the time he died.
Administrator, thanks for defend the truth about Walter Elias Disney, founder of film production Walt Disney in 1923, besides that the terms “Walt Disney” or “Disney” also are registered trademark in franchises such as Mickey Mouse, Disney Princess or Winnie Pooh through its line of products. The Walt Disney Family Museum is useful for defend the truth about Walter Elías Disney. In truth Streep is a liar. Later the actor Jon Voight, following the steps of his colleague Streep from non-Disney movie The Manchurian Candidate also lied, making false accusations against Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz for signed a letter against the fascist regime of Israel because the actor believes that Israel is the only country of goodwill of Orient. The liars have worst health that honest people. Is for that to liars such as Streep or Jon Voight, will have irritation of throat for lie. It's like to say that to Pinocchio grows the nose when say a lie.
In truth Walter Elias Disney not was antisemitic or sexist. The racism in Disney is just like I mentioned in a truthful comment. Wikipedia is liar because reject the needed truth in some pages and categories because is administrated by people at service of lie and manipulators, besides of not is in favor of human rights. The lies of Streep against Walter Elias Disney are protected in French version of Wikipedia. Here another truth. http://www.disneyhistoryinstitute.com/2014/02/in-defense-of-walt-walt-disney-and-anti.html
