"Mexico à Go-Go" is the ninth episode of Legend of the Three Caballeros. It premiered on June 9, 2018 on the DisneyLife app in the Philippines and premiered on Disney XD in the United States on October 2, 2021[1].

Synopsis[]

The Caballeros are heading to Mexico after noticing Felldrake's activity there, but Donald has another date with Daisy and he can't be there in person. The nieces agree to help him by posing as Donald while he speaks to her from Mexico through a pair of magic mirrors, but this backfires and Daisy becomes even more furious. In Mexico, the natives revere and worship Panchito as a mighty warrior before throwing him into a ritualistic wrestling match against Sheldgoose. When the other Caballeros and Felldrake interfere with the match, the God of Death appears and kills them all as punishment for breaking the rules.

Plot[]

Arriving at Clinton Coot's cabana, José, Panchito, and Donald see some lines to which while Panchito thinks of someone who placed them, April, May, and June appear and explain to themselves what they did before they were at the Nazca Realm where Xandra explains that they broke into Sheldgoose's mansion where the nieces explain about their experience inside the mansion where they found a secret chamber. José asks them to know where the chamber leads to to which the nieces tell him that they can't tell him so Sheldgoose won't know where they went. May then explains that the Sheldgoose family has been connected to every major catastrophe in history and it all started with Lord Felldrake the Terrible. April then explains that this family tree has been a connection between Donald's great grandfather Clinton Coot and Sheldgoose's ancestors. Donald then checks to find his messages to which upon hearing a message from Daisy where she gives Donald more chance which is last chance where she warns him not to scam her. After Donald's satisfaction, a flaming zoom point appears on the atlas as it is found out that Felldrake is in Mexico. Panchito then explains to José, Donald, and Xandra that he has taken the loath of a luchador. Much to Donald's plan to meet Daisy again, Daisy's nieces understand that the Caballeros take care of Felldrake while the nieces take care of the problem with Daisy. Xandra then takes the Caballeros to Mexico to stop Felldrake.

Arriving at Mexico, Xandra shows the Caballeros that they are at the Temple of the Sun. A mysterious figure then warns the Caballeros and Xandra that the Temple of the Sun has only two exits: life or death as the contest of fates will decide who will survive and who will fall. Thanking the figure for the advice, he then warns the Caballeros and Xandra that he will be watching them. Going up the stairs of the Temple of the Sun, the four reach the top of the ziggurat to which Xandra explains that according to her atlas, it gives a riddle saying, "The journey ahead be only half done. To fare any further, you must shine as the sun." Panchito then thinks that the mirror is linked to the riddle so he decides to borrow Donald's mirror to which he refuses to give it to him to which suddenly, the mirror reflects the sunlight to reveal a staircase for the Caballeros and Xandra only for them to find themselves in a community of chickens where their priestess feels overjoyed upon seeing the Caballeros and Xandra believing that Panchito is a messenger from the God of Life who came to the Valley. As Xandra asks the priestess to know why Panchito is chosen as the messenger, she explains to her that his arrival was foretold. The chickens then celebrate Panchito's arrival as the priestess welcomes Panchito to the Valley of the Thirteen Heavens where Panchito is dubbed as their protector, telling the mariachi band to play the music to welcome Panchito's arrival.

During the ceremony, the priestess honors Panchito with the ceremonial dance of the lights. As Xandra, José, and Donald receive their orders, April, May, and June talk to Donald via mirror explaining to him that Daisy will be there at any minute. Xandra then thinks to herself know where Felldrake is at where Panchito is treated as their messenger to which while José discusses with her, a Beautiful Chicken approaches him and offers to dance with her to which she dances with him, much to Xandra's disgust. Upon approaching Panchito, she believes that this ceremony is a bit of a distraction as Felldrake still has to be found to which the priestess offers Panchito to dance as part of the ceremony. Xandra then thinks to herself that she is not the only one seduced by this to which the hooded figure arrives where he reveals himself as the Handsome Gaucho where he dances with her. Meanwhile, Daisy's nieces tell Donald to help him talk to Daisy to which when Daisy enters, she approaches April (disguised as Donald with a mirror used as the face) to which April gives Daisy the flowers much to May tells him to say that this plan is working. Later, José shows the Beautiful Chicken about doing magic tricks with his thumb while Panchito is signing autographs to a group of fan girls who are all named "Chica". Xandra then later shares her story with the Handsome Gaucho about her encounter with the Hydra to which as he explains to her that this relationship has to end. Later, the priestess then tells the crowd that is is time for the ceremony where it is explained that the messenger of life has to deal with the messenger of death who is Sheldgoose assisted by Felldrake and Leopold the Horrible.

Later at a wrestling center, the chickens are gathered together at the arena to see the messenger of life fighting against the messenger of death where a lucha libre match is taking place at the Arena of Champions where Panchito must fight against Baron Von Sheldgoose in a wrestling match where Panchito (under his alter ego, "El Gallo Loco") is presented in front of the crowd where he is to fight his opponent Baron Von Sheldgoose (nicknamed "Ganso Gordo"). The priestess gives the competitors the simple rules just as Panchito and Sheldgoose are readying themselves for the match.

As the match begins, Panchito engages in a fight against Sheldgoose at the arena, much to Xandra finding the match suspicious. Donald continues talking to Daisy at Clinton's cabana to know if everything is all right to which April (in the disguise) has trouble offering Daisy tea. Back at the wrestling arena, Panchito continues fighting against Sheldgoose to know who is the champion. Xandra sees the Handsome Gaucho and the Beautiful Chicken watching the match to which as Xandra sits next to the two, the Gaucho explains to Xandra that the battle between life and death is an ancient tradition (also a symbolic tradition).

Panchito continues to fight against Sheldgoose during the wrestling match as Panchito beats Sheldgoose, ending the first round during the match. During a break, Donald continues to talk to Daisy back at the cabana to which April still has a hard time with the disguise while dancing with Daisy.

Back at the Arena of Champions, the second round has started as Panchito continues fighting against Sheldgoose to know who is the champion of the arena. Back with Xandra, the Handsome Gaucho explains that the gods of life and death are immortal as they choose mortals to fight for them so that there can be a winner where he explains to her that one will live and one will fall, warning Xandra that the wrestler who loses will die. Xandra feels worried about Panchito's fate after listening to what the Gaucho told her. She then arrives at the ring and warns Panchito that this match is being used as a fight to the death. It is then known that the wrestling match is used as a fight to the death. Still talking to Daisy at Clinton's cabana, she then reveals that April deceived her, much to Donald being scolded by Daisy for her nieces' trickery.

Back at the arena, Xandra warns Panchito that the fight to the death is serious as whoever loses the match will fall at the hands of death. José then looks at a clock where he finds out that the final round has begun as José plans to give out a draw rather than a victory or defeat so both competitors can survive the match. As the final round begins, Panchito continues fighting against Sheldgoose during a wrestling match to know who will be the surviving winner of the match while Daisy talks to Donald that she has been deceived by her nieces' plan. After his mirror breaks, Donald then sees Panchito having trouble defeating Sheldgoose, to which Donald goes into full anger and attacks Sheldgoose and his ancestor to help Panchito win. José and Xandra also join in the battle as the heroes and villains fight against each other during the tournament. As Xandra, the Caballeros, Sheldgoose, Felldrake, and Leopold are still fighting, the third round ends as the brawl is halted. The Handsome Gaucho approaches Xandra who asks her that he wants a fair fight at once. Suddenly the Handsome Gaucho reveals himself as a skeleton deity who represents himself as the God of Death. As the spectators see the God of Death in the ring, they run away in fear upon seeing the skeleton deity.

As the spectators escape, the God of Death introduces himself to Xandra. He then explains to Sheldgoose that he brought a foreign object into the ring during a wrestling match (which is against the rules), to which Sheldgoose is disqualified from the match. He also explains Panchito that he brought in his allies to help him win the match (also against the rules) as Panchito is also disqualified. Panchito asks the skeleton deity to know that if both competitors are disqualified so that both can return home, to which he explains to Panchito that the competitors do not return home. He then explains to both of them that they broke the rules, resulting in Panchito and Sheldgoose losing the match. It is explained that the competitors who break the rules during the match lose and receive a penalty, which is death. As a result, José, Panchito, Donald, Sheldgoose, Felldrake, and Leopold receive their punishment for their disqualification.

Xandra alone faces the God of Death who explains to her that there is no room for immortals in the afterlife. He then calls the Beautiful Chicken who then reveals herself as a snake deity representing herself as the Goddess of Life. The skeleton deity then leaves with the snake deity together as the Gods of Life and Death both leave the arena, leaving Xandra in the empty arena alone.
