Mexico is a song from the Disney animated film, The Three Caballeros. It is sung after Panchito explains to Donald about the history of Mexico.

Background

It is first heard during the part after Panchito tells José and Donald that a long time ago, the gods told the Aztecs to build a large city in the middle of a lake with an eagle devouring a rattlesnake on a nopal cactus on top of a rock - just as the Aztecs built a large city on the lake, the city was called "Tenochtitlan", which is now Mexico City nowadays.

The song is later sung again when Panchito takes Donald and José on a trip across Mexico via magic serape to explore Mexico all around them where the Caballeros arrive at the state of Pátzcuaro. It is instrumentally heard again when the Caballeros ride via magic sarape from Pátzcuaroto to Veracruz which loops into Lilongo.

Lyrics

Sweet music
Gay serenatas
Tropic skies of velvet blue

Magic gardens perfume the breezes
Where true love brought me to you...

Mexico, with all your romance
Your song of love will live forever after

Mexico, sweethearts are singing
Lovebirds are winging through a sky filled with laughter

Paradise, that's where I found you
Your magic smile made the blossoms bloom around you

Mexico, why do I feel as I do?
I simply fell under the spell of you...

Paradise, that's where I found you
Your magic smile made the blossoms bloom around you

Mexico, why do I feel as I do?
I simply fell under the spell of you...
Of you...
