- “You don't know how I feel, how it hurts when people laugh at you, make you feel different, like you're a freak of nature. You don't know how it feels to go home and cry because people who you thought were your friends really aren't. You don't know how it feels to be ridiculed because you're you. Well, I'll tell you, Tookie. If being a sissy means you're a good student, a sensational designer, a fabulous basketball player, who schooled you on the court, and a loyal, caring friend then I'm cool with it, 'cause that's who I am.”
- ―Micheal Collins to Tookie and Penny[src]
Michael Collins is a recurring character of The Proud Family, then later became a main supporting character of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
History[]
Michael Collins is Penny Proud's flamboyant male friend. He acts effeminate and loves fashion, because of which he gets made fun of. He is a good fashion designer and basketball player as well as a choreographer. Michael's father is a coach and gym teacher at Willy T. Ribbs Middle School, and feels embarrassed by his son. In public, Michael is forced to call his father "Coach" instead of "Dad" or "Daddy." Though he is often bullied, Michael is a big trash talker and gets along well with others more often than not.
In the sequel series, Louder and Prouder, Michael is gender non-conforming and openly gay.[1] He is one of the few boys that Oscar tolerates due to his lack of interest in girls.
