Michael Rye was an American actor and voice actor, who, for Disney, voiced Duke Igthorn, King Gregor, Sir Gawain, Troll Tuck, Malsinger, and Sir Gallant in the Adventures of the Gummi Bears, and the Narrator in DuckTales (for the recap sequences in the serialized versions of "Time is Money" and "Super DuckTales"), as well as J. J. Wagstaff in Fluppy Dogs. He also voiced Yen Sid in one episode of The Wonderful World of Disney: "Disney on Parade'".

Rye was born in Chicago, Illinois and began his career in radio where he participated in several radio shows per week such as Ma Perkins, Guiding Light, Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy, Lux Radio Theater, Backstage Wife, The Whistler. He also provided the narration for the world's first full-length recorded book, the 1969 audio adaptation of The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin.

When television rose in popularity, Rye transitioned into voice acting where he participated in Hanna-Barbera shows such as the Scooby-Doo series during the 1970s, The Smurfs, Snorks, Super Friends, Pound Puppies, and The Flintstone Kids. His on-screen credits include M Squad, 77 Sunset Strip, Dr. Kildare, Perry Mason, and Mission: Impossible. He also was the narrator for the video games Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, and Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp, which all featured art by Don Bluth.

Rye died from a short illness on September 20, 2012, in Los Angeles.
