The Miracle Butterflies are characters who are featured in the 2021 Disney animated feature film Encanto.
Background[]
The miracle butterflies are mostly seen in a coloration of yellow wings reflecting the miracle that was seen on Bruno's vision. They are also shown to fly in a flutter during the part where Mirabel reconciles with her grandmother Alma, showing that they show a symbol of happiness as well as serving as a good omen for the Madrigal family which truly fulfills Bruno's vision which Mirabel had earlier when she was at Antonio's room.
Appearances[]
Encanto[]
One butterfly appears during Bruno's vision as Bruno is having a private discussion with Mirabel in Antonio's room where Mirabel sees a yellow butterfly in it where it lands on a reed as Mirabel attempts to fulfill Bruno's vision to which the butterfly image fades into a Miracle Candle, just as it suddenly transforms into an image of Isabela just before the vision ends, which reminds Mirabel to apologize to Isabela in her room.
During Alma's flashback, a yellow butterfly soars past Pedro during the the Day of the Little Candles just as the two start their relationship together before the musical number "Dos Oruguitas" begins. Later in the present, a yellow butterfly lands on a reed at the river where Pedro was killed during her grandmother's flashback, which reflects the image of what was seen in Bruno's vision which Mirabel observes it just as she reconciles with her grandmother Alma together where the two share an embrace. Afterwards, the butterfly that Mirabel saw flies just as it flies with a large flock of butterflies together just as the song "Dos Oruguitas" resumes with the butterflies flying together as they surround the two just as Mirabel and her grandmother happily stare at the butterflies flying together just before Bruno arrives and reunites with Alma.

Trivia[]
- The miracle butterflies are sporadically seen in various media connected to Encanto, despite their small amount of screen time, implying that butterflies are a recognizable element from the film - specifically the yellow types that often appear in media inspired by the film.
- Some of the butterflies seen in the end credits of Raya and the Last Dragon are shown as decorations - especially the yellow types. This was used as a reference to Disney's next film Encanto.
- The scene with the yellow butterflies flying in a flutter during the "Dos Oruguitas" musical number could be a possible homage to Gabriel García Marquez's 1967 novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude, in which yellow butterflies are associated with the protagonist Mauricio Babilonia.
