The Mirror Bird is a character from the 1951 Disney animated feature film, Alice in Wonderland. It is one of the first creatures from Tulgey Wood who appears onscreen which Alice encounters at the aforementioned area.
Background[]
The Mirror Bird, as its name implies, is a bird-like creature with a mirror which makes its neck and face and a plumage of magenta feathers with a pale magenta belly. By itself, the Mirror Bird has no eyes. When Alice first encounters it while wearing the Glasses Bird, she approaches the Mirror Bird where the Glasses Birds' eyes appears on the former's face via reflection just as it reacts to Alice looking at the bird.

Alice in Wonderland[]
The Mirror Bird is one of the first creatures which Alice encounters in Tulgey Wood along with the Glasses Bird. As the Glasses Bird approaches Alice who is curiously exploring Tulgey Wood and then lands in front of her face, she approaches the Mirror Bird and as Alice approaches it, she sees the Glasses Bird on the Mirror Bird's reflection just as the latter smiles to see Alice wearing the Glasses Bird just as Alice tells them, "No more nonsense" just as Alice suddenly walks into an area where a family of Horn Ducks is sleeping, much to the Glasses Bird and Mirror Bird feeling worried. The Mirror Bird is later seen approaching Alice who is singing "Very Good Advice" where it and the other creatures of Tulgey Wood approach her singing. Soon as Alice cries, the Mirror Bird also cries and tearfully reacts to Alice who is lost in Tulgey Wood alongside a family of Horn Ducks and a Shovel Bird who are also tearfully reacting to Alice just as the Mirror Bird and the other creatures of Tulgey Wood suddenly disappear. The Mirror Bird make no further appearances throughout the rest of the film.
Alice's Wonderland Bakery[]
Several Mirror Birds make background appearances in various episodes. In "Picnic for One", Alice and her friends find the Cheshire Cat laughing with his "friends" at his own picnic, unaware that they're actually the Mirror Birds hidden from view. He reveals this ruse near the end of the episode after confessing that he was lonely and wanted to join Alice's picnic. In "Fluffle Kerfuffle", a Mirror Bird and a Glasses Bird accompany Alice throughout most of the episode to help her find the rare fluffle plant.
Trivia[]
- The Mirror Bird is one of the few creatures from the Tulgey Wood area that does not appear in the Alice in Wonderland attraction at Disneyland.
- In the original film during "Very Good Advice", the Mirror Bird has a smile on its face while crying, likely the result of an animation error.
