"Molly vs. The Ghost World" is the second segment of the twentieth episode, as well as the season one finale of the Disney Channel animated series The Ghost and Molly McGee.
Synopsis[]
When Scratch is taken to the Ghost World for trial, Molly sets out to save him.
Plot[]
The McGees are all nervous about the fate of Scratch, but Molly invites Libby over in an effort to try and perform astral projection, but to no avail. They then summon Geoff by once again misspelling his name, but he is too scared to bring Molly to the Ghost Realm. Molly then attempts to jump through his portal, only to suddenly find herself in her own ghostly form after being ejected from her body. She has become a wraith, someone who is not dead, but their still living body is a soulless husk who has no motivation for anything. Geoff takes Molly to find Scratch, but discovers that due to her immense joy, everything she touches suddenly turns nice and colorful.
Scratch is put on trial by the Council whom they determine as been part of the joy spreading; made much more apparent when Sonia Davis and Howlin' Harriet corroborate his actions. Jinx is made aware of Molly's presence and sets out to look for her with the Sobgoblins. They chase Molly and Geoff, the latter of whom accidentally causes flowers to grow from Jinx's hair, as she rushes off to the Council to rescue her friend. She manages to make it and tells the Council off by telling them how their goal of spreading misery is false and how she has come to save Scratch. Jinx is revealed to have captured Geoff who they promptly send to the Flow of Failed Phantoms.
After Scratch makes an impassioned speech, the Council choose not to separate the two. Instead, they opt to send Molly into the flow alongside Scratch and do so. However, Molly's joy is so overwhelming that it causes many other ghosts who were sent, including Geoff, to suddenly fall out and become free. Molly and Scratch break out, as the former flies up to the Chairman and disintegrates him with a single touch, much to the horror of the council and Jinx. Having saved themselves and the afterlife as a whole, Molly and Scratch return to the land of the living, to find Libby still creeped out by Molly's husk. Molly returns to her body just as her family comes upstairs to her room and Scratch happily embraces his family and new freedom.

Trivia[]
- This is the first episode where Molly appears as a ghost (she actually becomes a wraith).
- Molly's ghost form stands out the most from other ghosts, given that she's gold instead of blue, green, pink or purple, and her eyes are pink instead of yellow. This could possibly compensate for her ability to spread joy.
- The title is most likely a reference to the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
- This marks the first time Molly has gone to the ghost world.
- Boo! Buster is a reference to the defunct video rental chain Blockbuster.
- According to Geoff, the ghost world doesn't get anything new "until it dies" (becomes defunct or obsolete).
- Early concept art of the episode almost shows Molly, in human form, confronting the Ghost Council to save Scratch.
- As of this episode, the Flow of Failed Phantoms is now disolved and all the ghost prisoners are free and return back to there homes thanks to Molly.
- Additionally, the Chairman is dead for real thanks to Molly.[1]
- The song "Happy" is a parody of the Academy Award nominated song "Can't Stop the Feeling!" from the 2016 movie Trolls.[citation needed]
