Monroeville is a fictional suburb in upstate New York in Disney's 2022 film, Disenchanted. Giselle, Robert, Morgan, and Sofia Philip move there from New York City when their Riverside Drive apartment runs out of room as of the birth of Sofia. Monroeville is run by (and possibly named for) Malvina Monroe, the very passive-aggressive realtor. The town motto is "Your fairy tale starts here!".
Giselle makes a wish on the AndalasianWand of Wishes that was meant for Sofia for a "fairytale life", and Monroeville is magically transformed into Monrolasia, a fantasy and magic-filled version of the town. In that version, Malvina rules as its evil queen.
Places of interest[]
The Philip Residence - The house resembles a fairytale castle. When Giselle and her family arrive, the house is still being refurbished and the electrical wiring is all screwy. Once Giselle makes her wish, the house becomes filled with magic and life, except for Morgan's room, which becomes dank and dusty. In the backyard is a magical wishing well serving as another portal to Andalasia. The address for the house is 18 Honey Bee Trail.
Monroeville Preparatory School - The school that Morgan and Tyson Monroe attend.
Monroeville Train Station - A station which, indicated by the green coloring on the sign, is part of the Hudson Line on the Metro-North Railroad.
Village Square
Coffee Shop - Where Edgar the barista works and Malvina and her assistants commiserate.
Trivia[]
When transformed into Monrolasia, the signs outside the buildings have various Easter Eggs and puns in references to Disney films, characters, and songs.
The ZIP code for Monroeville is 10960, which, in real life, is the ZIP code used for Rockland County, prominently, for Nyack, New York.
