Monte and his sidekick Vidi are seen on top of a lighthouse while the latter is seen keeping an eye on him. The narrator describes Monte as a somnambulist while Vidi watches him with untiring devotion, which Monte doesn't even realize him for this. Monte begins to sleepwalk on the lighthouse while dreaming of a dive bomber, which Vidi saves him from falling off the lighthouse as well as avoiding a hostile shark. To Vidi's frustration, he places a blanket with nails on the edges to keep Monte from falling off the lighthouse. However, the next day, Monte wakes up and exercises to be like a dive bomber, but is not fond of understanding of why Vidi is tired, due to the fact that he was exhausted in defending Monte from last night. As he practices, an airplane almost hit him, which Monte feels crazy about this, much to Vidi feeling uncomfortable about the planes.

The next night, Vidi taught of a new plan to keep Monte out of danger, but Monte kept flying, despite a rope tied on his right foot, much to Vidi's worry. Vidi lassoes his beak so that Monte wouldn't fall off, much to Vidi feeling exhausted about this. Vidi began to think of a solution, but told Monte to relax while Vidi keeps thinking hard in a plan to keep his friend safe. However, after thinking hard, Vidi places an anchor on Monte, but despite this, Monte fell off into the water, much to his frustration. The next day, Monte became frustrated that he could have drowned into the ocean from last night for his mischievous tricks as well being furious with Vidi for destroying his faith. This, however, hurt Vidi's feelings, fearing that he is no longer his friend again.

The next night, Monte sleeps all alone and flies while sleeping. However, a plane wakes him up when its propellers struck him, which Monte realizes that what he did to Vidi was a bad idea, frustrated that this was all his fault. Seeing Vidi sleeping on a target, he rescues him from a bomb dropped by one of the planes just before it destroys the target. With Vidi saved, Monte and Vidi became best friends again. Vidi manages to solve the problem in keeping Monte away from the lighthouse by tying a rope onto the pole of the lighthouse where Monte flies over it like a lighthouse's light.
