Montressor is the homeworld of the Hawkins family, Jim Hawkins and his mother Sarah and the starting and end points of the story in the film Treasure Planet.

Background[]

Development[]

The design of the planet was based around the concepts by Ron Clements and John Musker of possessing a 70/30 balance between the original 17th century concepts and ideas of Treasure Island as written by Robert Louis Stevenson with the space and sci-fi concepts of updating the story to a more futuristic setting.

Layout[]

Notable Locations[]

  • Benbow Inn: Home of the Hawkins family; destroyed in a raid by Long John Silver in search of the Treasure Planet map, but subsequently rebuilt with the portion of the treasure Silver gives to Jim at the end of their adventure.
  • A plant where Jim Hawkins solar sails to his arrest early in the film.
  • Doctor Doppler's mansion, where the Hawkins reside after the Benbow Inn is destroyed.
  • Montressor Spaceport: a harbor area based on a crescent-shaped satellite orbiting the planet where ships are arranged and depart for various locations throughout the universe.
