The Moon Mites are alien creatures featured in the DuckTales reboot.
Background[]
The Moon Mites are shown to have an arachnid-like appearance with a massive cephalothorax, as well as having four small legs. They are also shown to have four eyes and mouth resemble that of a cuttlefish. In addition to their appearance, they are shown to be very expressive having vertebrate-like behavior often showing humanlike emotions. A Moon Mite's eye turns red when hungry or agitated, but they turn blue when in a calm mood. Moon Mites also have antennae located on top of their cephalothorax which they use for sense, specifically when it comes to food. Moon Mites also have a corrosive green spit that can dissolve a meal into a liquid form which they can consume, such as the case when Della gave Lunaris and Penumbra's blasters to feed them so that they can stop hunting down the Moon Mites.
Role in the series[]
In "What Ever Happened to Della Duck?!", a large adult Moon Mite attacks Della's ship during her encounter with the invertebrate in the Moon. Throughout her life in the Moon, the Moon Mite continues to attack Della attempting to destroy Della's ship. However, General Lunaris and Penumbra defend her from the giant Moon Mite. Just as Della, Lunaris, and Penumbra fight against the Moon Mite, Della suddenly hears crying on the ship, where the source of crying is revealed to be a baby Moon Mite as it is revealed that the mother Moon Mite was only attacking them in order to find a proper meal for her offspring. This lead Della to willingly give her golden tooth to the mother, knowing that a mother would do anything for the sake of her kid. Della sings a lullaby rendition of the "Moon Stage Theme" that she used to sing to Huey, Dewey, and Louie before they were hatched to calm the hatchling.
The Moon Mite offspring then cheered up and was able to eat the golden tooth, with Della also giving the mother and her baby the metal weapons Penumbra and Lunaris used to attack them, for extra nourishment. The Moon Mites then leave them peacefully, as they and Della wave goodbye to one another before they burrow deeper underground. Lunaris praised Della for staving off the Moon Mites with words instead of violence. They do not appear again afterwards.
