Morpheus is a minor character in the "Pastoral Symphony" segment of the 1940 film, Fantasia.
Role in the film[]
After the inhabitants of Mount Olympus bid farewell to Apollo during the end of the segment, Morpheus is seen briefly covering the sky with her cloak to bring in the night and the time for the inhabitants to sleep. Then Diana uses the crescent moon as a bow to fire an arrow to spread stars across the sky.
Trivia[]
- Despite her gender, Deems Taylor erroneously refers to Morpheus as a male (which is her usual gender).
- Morpheus is the god's Greek name. In Rome, she is called Somnus.
