Mr. Fantastic (real name Doctor Reed Nathaniel Richards) is a Marvel Comics character featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was an alternate reality of the character who lives on Earth-838.
He is portrayed by John Krasinski.
Mr. Fantastic was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Background[]
Reed Richards is a founding member of the Illuminati, a collective of the most powerful and intellectual superheroes alive on Earth-838, a universe outside of the prime MCU reality (Earth-616). In an alternate 2018, the Illuminati fought Thanos and his army on Titan during his attempt to cause an infinity war by collecting all the infinity stones, but failed and the team killed Thanos after learning the Doctor Strange from 838 had held possession of the Darkhold, which meant they could defeat Thanos but they had to kill their Strange for what he had done.

- Elasticity: Mr. Fantastic has the power to stretch his body and use it in unusual ways, such as twisting and controlling his limbs to amazing extremes.

- Genius-Level Intellect: Reed Richards is known to be extremely intelligent, to the point where he was described as "the smartest man alive" by Baron Mordo, and is this in his native world. He is also shown to have knowledge of the multiverse and incursions.
Role in the film[]
Mr. Fantastic is introduced by Baron Mordo, as a member of the Illuminati (this world's version of the Avengers), who meets Doctor Strange from Earth-616, after he and America Chavez accidentally find themselves in this new world. Mr. Fantastic tries to reason with Stephen over the damages he can cause by being in this world, and tries to assure him that the Scarlet Witch is not the biggest issue, but it is in fact, Doctor Strange himself.
When Wanda Maximoff from 616 takes control of her 838 counterpart, Mr. Fantastic and the Illuminati face her, until they are all killed by Wanda. Reed tries to reason with Wanda, expressing that he too has kids. Wanda asks Reed if the kids have a mother who will raise them, to which he confirms when he tells her that Black Bolt can destroy her with his mouth, to which Wanda uses to her advantage and kills him, before shreeding Richards to pieces, which kills him.

- He is the only member of the Illuminati whose actor had not portrayed another version of the character in any form.
- Reed's powers were inspired by DC's Plastic Man.
