Mr. Paradox is a Marvel Comics character who appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Deadpool & Wolverine as the secondary antagonist. He is an agent of the Time Variance Authority, and is tasked on apprehending Deadpool.

Paradox was created by Dan Slott.

Background

Paradox was born as a human on the Sacred Timeline who became a variant and caused a divergence, causing him to be taken by the Time Variance Authority and have his memory suppressed so that he could become a member of the organization. However, despite loving his job at the TVA, when the organization decided to stop pruning timelines, Paradox was given the responsibility of watching all the timelines of the Multiverse.

Deadpool & Wolverine

In 2024, Mr. Paradox gets his men to arrive in Wade Wilson's universe, which brings him to the TVA. Paradox informs Wade that his universe is dying because of Wolverine who died in the future, in 2029, and he is the anchor-being. Paradox suits Wade up with a new Deadpool suit and offers to help him save the universe. Wade then takes Mr. Paradox's universal device and travels to 2029 after punching Paradox in the face, who sends his men after Wilson, who kills them and travels the multiverse to find a suitable Wolverine replacement.

After searching the multiverse, Wade finds a rundown, drunk Wolverine and brings him back to the TVA, much to Paradox's irritation as he tells Deapool that Logan can't be replaced like that and dubs this Wolverine as the worst one of them all. Paradox has both Deadpool and Wolverine pruned to the Void. After they finally escape and return to Earth-10005, Paradox also appears, revealing that Cassandra Nova escaped the Void and is planning to destroy the multiverse. Deadpool and Wolverine eventually manage to destroy the time tagger and kill Cassandra, saving the multiverse. Paradox is shocked to learn the heroes survived and is eventually arrested by the TVA.

• Him and Cassandra Nova are the only new characters in Deadpool & Wolverine, as everyone else have been seen before.
• Mr. Paradox is the first antagonist since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to have survived the climax of the film.
