Mrs. Ashmore[1] is a character in the 2018 Disney film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. She is the Stahlbaum family's cook who serves as a staff member in the Stahlbaum household.
Background[]
Mrs. Ashmore is a portly cook who works at the Stahlbaum's family household. Being a staff member of the household, she is shown to be a hard-working cook preparing everything, especially when it comes to Christmas. She is also shown to bake ginger biscuits for Fritz, which are his favorites for her to bake for him[1]. Although she is capable of cooking anything for the Stahlbaums, Mrs. Ashmore is shown to have a dislike on cooking mice for dinner, which makes it difficult for her to cook.

Mrs. Ashmore is first seen popping out of a trapdoor while she was looking for Clara and Fritz Stahlbaum trying to get them for dinner while Fritz replies that he and Clara were trying to catch a mouse. Ashmore replies that she will not cook mice for them, telling them to be quick. She leads Clara and Fritz downstairs for dinner as the two exit the attic, telling her that she has a lot to do this evening while Louise approaches Fritz just before Ashmore returns to work. She does not appear again throughout the rest of the film.

Mrs. Ashmore's name was mentioned in the book inspired by the film where she approaches Clara and Fritz trying to get them for dinner. When Fritz explained that he and Clara were trying to catch a mouse, Ashmore replies that she didn't bake Fritz his favorite ginger biscuits sitting by themselves in the parlor. Ashmore is last seen interceding on Clara and Fritz just before she leaves while Louise tells them that her father Benjamin is waiting in the parlor. Mrs. Ashmore was not mentioned again afterwards.

- Mrs. Ashmore's name was never mentioned in the film and her name was revealed in the film-inspired book The Nutcracker and the Four Realms: The Secret of the Realms. The character was simply credited as "Cook" referring to Mrs. Ashmore's duty as a cook.
- This character is Meera Syal's third role in a Disney film. Syal previously participated in Alice Through the Looking Glass as Nobody and Dr. Patel in Doctor Strange. Syal later participated in the 2021 Disney Channel Original Movie Spin
- Despite her extremely brief amount of screen time, her actress Meera Syal, was featured in the film's "Starring Cast" section in the closing credits of the film.
