Mrs. Marsigliese, also known as Signora Marsigliese, is a minor character in the Disney•Pixar animated film Luca. She works as a sponsor for Giorgio Giorgioni Pasta and is the host of the Portorosso Cup.
Background[]
Physical appearance[]
Mrs. Marsigliese is an Italian woman. During the film, she wears two outfits, the first one being a white and blue striped shirt with a brown dress, and the second being a bright yellow dress with light yellow polka dots on it.
Role in the film[]
Shortly before the sign-ups for the Portorosso Cup, Mrs. Marsigliese dresses up as famed sea monster hunter Giorgio Giorgioni by wearing a straw mustache and using a broom as a triton, as part of her sponsorship with a pasta company whose brand revolves around Giorgioni. While finishing up the sponsorship, she is urged by Giulia to get on with the rules. After the sponsorship, Ercole signs up, and Mrs. Marsigliese asks him if he is too old to enter. Ercole tells her he is sixteen (the oldest possible age to enter), and Mrs. Marsigliese responds by saying that Ercole said that the previous year. Ercole admits he lied last year and claims that now he was actually sixteen. Mrs. Marsigliese then enters his name. Guilia then signs up, and Mrs. Marsigliese asks her if she is racing alone again. Giulia then reveals Luca and Alberto, showing she had a team.
The day of the Portorosso Cup soon arrives, and Luca tells Mrs. Marsigliese that he would like to split up his team. Giulia then appears, and she tells Luca he can’t swim, due to the fact he turns into a sea monster when exposed to water. Mrs. Marsigliese then taunts Giulia, telling her she is alone again.
Mrs. Marsigliese later announces the race is about to begin and tells the competitors not to worry about the recent sea monster sightings.
Later, Luca and Alberto are revealed to be sea monsters, though Ercole does not believe they have won due to being sea monsters. Mrs. Marsigliese then reveals they have technically won, as they were the first to cross the finish line. She then hands the trophy to them and applauds them.
Trivia[]
