Mrs. Winthorp is a character from the 2020 Disney+ original film Black Beauty.
Background[]
Mrs. Winthorp is one of the three migrants from England who visited Jo Green in Birtwick Stables. She serves as the mother of George and Georgina Winthorp as well as being the husband of Mr. Winthorp. She is shown to give advice to her daughter to ride on horses properly, especially Black Beauty. However, she dislikes when Georgina behaves in a selfish manner in treating horses that way unlike other people who treat horses in a kind manner. After the race was unsuccessful, Mrs. Winthorp made a tough decision to sell Beauty to somewhere else, as she could not afford to keep her, alongside Beauty's best friend Ginger.
Role in the film[]
Mrs. Winthorp meets John Manly who introduces her family to Black Beauty at Birtwick Stables. Upon staring at Beauty, she tells her daughter that she wanted a thoroughbred rather than a mustang, which Georgina denies, planning to try out Black Beauty upon staring at her just before John continues talking to her.
Just as the horses arrive at Earlshall Park, Mrs. Winthorp then gives advice to her daughter on how to ride on how to ride a horse properly, which she ignores her advice, especially in the training area, causing Beauty to tumble, much to her disappointment. She then approaches Jo Green telling her that her son George put a word in so that she could spend time with Black Beauty, in spite of Georgina upsetting her, giving her an advice to have an appropriate distance between her.
The next day, Mrs. Winthorp and her husband host a social gathering during a race often watching riders training their horses for the race. Upon staring at Jo checking on Ginger making sure she is ready to race, Mr. Winthorp tells his wife after she tells him that Jo's fraternity is of no means to her, especially when she and her husband were married just before Jo wishes George luck during a horse race. Georgina's mother and father later watch their daughter riding on Beauty during the race; however, Georgina's selfishness put her and Beauty in danger, planning to send Black Beauty away to a better place where she could be treated after negotiating with her son George as well as Mr. York, followed by her secretly selling Ginger. She does not appear again throughout the rest of the film.
