Mutants are characters from Marvel Comics, referring to humans that were born with a mutation in their genetic sequence that gives them superpowers. They are a kind of superhuman beings like Inhumans and Enhanced Individuals.
Bruno Carrelli runs a diagnostic on Kamala Khan's DNA sequence to discover why she holds access to a power, she inherited from her Djinn ancestry, whilst her brother doesn't. His findings lead him to discover that Kamala holds a mutation in genetics, that give her this ability.
When Doctor Strange arrives on Earth-838, he meets Professor X from that world, who is a member of the Illuminati and has the powers to control minds. He is eventually killed by the Scarlet Witch.
After a pregnant, Fen, and the people of her village, ingest a mystical plant with special properties, they undergo a transformation, which takes away their ability to breath air, and enables them to draw oxygen from the sea, altering the color of their skin while on land. Fen gave birth to Namor in their newly settled underwater home, known as Talokan, and he is born a mutant, with wings on his ankles, pointed ears, longevity, and the ability to breathe the air that his ancestors once did.
Deadpool from earth-1005 is approached by the TVA to save his universe as it is slowly dying since the Wolverine from the same world, known as an anchor being, died so Wade decides to get back into the Deadpool suit and save his universe by travelling the Multiverse to find a new Wolverine to replace the deceased one, much to Paradox's irritation since he mentions to Wade that it is impossible to replace an anchor being, especially since this Wolverine is known to be the "worst" one. After breaking Paradox's nose, Deadpool is sent to the Void and Wolverine follows shortly after.
Now trapped in the Void, Deadpool and Wolverine eventually come across several other mutants including Charles Xavier's twin sister Cassandra Nova, who uses her mind control powers for evil and was sent there before she gained the ability to walk. Once Wade and Logan eventually escape, they land back in Wilson's world where they find hundreds of Deadpool variants who they eventually defeat and the universe, as well as the Multiverse, is soon saved by Deadpool and Wolverine who combine their mutant powers to destroy the Time Tagger and kill Cassandra Nova. With the universe saved, the two mutants stay in earth-10005, with their friends and possibly other mutants.
X-Men Cinematic Universe[]
Mutants are humans that were born with what it is called the "X-Gene". They are considered to be the next evolutionary step in the human species and normally start to manifest their powers in puberty. Other individuals, who previously had no powers, can have their dormant mutant genes activated by experiments, like Deadpool, or incidents that affects them on a molecular level.
Humans fear and hate mutants. This is the cause for the Mutant Civil War between the X-Men (who act as superheroes to prove to humans that mutants aren't evil and can be trusted) and the Brotherhood of Mutants (who want to kill all humans so that mutants will rule the Earth).
Some mutants develop "secondary mutations", that give them additional powers or change their appearance drastically. For example, Beast, a mutant with super-strength and invulnerability, developed a secondary mutation that gave him claw and fangs and blue fur.
