Helen casts a spell on Kiff and Barry and won’t tell them what it is.
Plot[]
In Helen's class, Barry shows his classmates his talent for making fart noises with his hands, annoying Helen in the process. When Barry disobeys her demand for him to stop, Helen retaliates by launching one of her many spells, this one numbered 134, at him. The spell ricochets off Helen's many mirrors and ends up hitting both Barry and Kiff. The two do not feel any effects from the spell, but when they ask Helen what exactly the spell did, she refuses to elaborate.
Unable to stop thinking about Spell #134, Kiff and Barry begin investigating what the spell could have done to them. Kiff starts listing down possible effects of the spell, which she and Barry proceed to test out one by one. After eliminating flight as a possibility, Kiff and Barry visit the Table Town Hospital to get themselves examined by Dr. Lyon, but their medical results indicate that they are both perfectly healthy. Seeing Dr. Lyon having eggplant parmesan for lunch, Barry comments that the spell might cause everything to taste like the dish. Despite its complete randomness, Kiff and Barry decide to test this possibility anyway. The two go back to Table Town Middle School and taste-test various dishes in the cafeteria, but find nothing unusual.
After testing various other possible effects to no success, Kiff and Barry ask Helen once again about Spell #134, but she has already forgotten about casting the spell in the first place. Helen does, however, mention that Agnes used to catalog Helen's spells in list form, so Kiff and Barry visit Agnes at Wish Wash to seek her assistance. Agnes shows that she keeps Helen's spells catalogued in garment bags hanging on a conveyor belt in her store, but the spells are not arranged in order. She shuffles through numerous bags and eventually comes across the bag cataloguing Spell #139, a spell-finding spell. Agnes uses the spell to locate the bag for Spell #134, then gives Kiff and Barry the spell's catalogue card.
Outside Wish Wash, Kiff and Barry open the card, only to find that the text explaining the spell has been crossed out. Noticing Kiff's long list of crossed-out possible spell effects, Barry posits that the text on the card is similarly crossed out because Helen failed to make the spell achieve any actual effect, which would explain why he and Kiff have not felt anything all day. Satisfied with this explanation, Kiff and Barry go home. As the two walk away, they are seen from behind, revealing that unbeknownst to them, they have swapped tails as a result of the spell. After the scene irises out, Liz K. appears, holding a sign saying "I knew the whole time".
Foreshadowing the episode's ending, Liz K. makes subtle appearances throughout the episode, glancing at Kiff and Barry in the background of various scenes.
