"Mystery of the Mighty Colossus" is the first segment of the ninety-ninth episode of Jake and the Never Land Pirates. It premiered on October 24, 2015 alongside "The Doubloon Monsoon", and is the first segment of the fourth episode in the fourth season.
Plot[]
The Mighty Colossus is sailing through fog, and the Pirate Captains are aware of the fog. Jake assures Captain Hook that they'll find the Jolly Roger when the fog lifts. Laughter is then heard, and Sharky and Bones know it's from the Grim Buccaneer before singing a song about what he does. According to Captain Flynn, the Grim Buccaneer used to be first-mate to Captain Colossus aboard the Mighty Colossus before he turned bad, betrayed his captain, and was cast away. Also, the Grim Buccaneer still roams the Never Seas. Jake decides for the captains to be on the lookout for the Grim Buccaneer.
As Captain Hook thinks of it as a fairy tale, Sharky and Bones get abducted by the Grim Buccaneer. Skully worries that they could be next, and Jake and his mates search the deck for Sharky and Bones. Later, the Grim Buccaneer scares them away. Jake decides for Captain Flynn to take first watch, but Captain Flynn has been abducted by the Grim Buccaneer.
While the others hide below deck, Jake is outside the door, wanting to be let in. Captain Hook thinks it's the Grim Buccaneer pretending to be Jake, but when Mr. Smee gets abducted by the Grim Buccaneer, Captain Hook opens the door and finds that Jake is himself. The Grim Buccaneer then locks the door before turning off the lights and abducting the Pirate Mummy.
Jake and his mates continue on, and when Captain Hook is scared by a mirror containing himself when he thinks it is the Grim Buccaneer, Jake reassures Captain Hook it's just an old mirror. The Grim Buccaneer then abducts Captain Hook from behind the mirror with Jake and his crew giving chase by taking a slide.
The Grim Buccaneer then tells Jake and his crew that he is kidnapping the pirates because he should be captain of the Mighty Colossus. The Grim Buccaneer then abducts Izzy, cages Skully, and abducts Cubby. Jake trips on a rope, leaving him hanging, but engages in a swordfight with the Grim Buccaneer, who sends Jake down a hatch, reuniting Jake with the pirate captains in the brig. Captain Flynn knows that Jake has a plan.
The Grim Buccaneer tells the pirate captains that he plans to leave them on Pirate Doom Island so that they never bother him again. Jake uses the crossbow he stole from the Grim Buccaneer during their swordfight to get the keys, freeing the pirate captains, who head back to the deck to face the Grim Buccaneer.
As Jake faces the Grim Buccaneer again, the Grim Buccaneer takes his crossbow back. The other pirates confront the Grim Buccaneer, who escapes them at every turn. Izzy uses her Pixie Dust on Jake and his crew to trap the Grim Buccaneer in a net. As the Mighty Colossus sets sail for Pirate Doom Island, the Grim Buccaneer escapes and vows to return. Skully praises his skills as the Mighty Colossus exits the fog.
Back on Pirate Island, Jake and his crew put all the gold doubloons they collected into their Team Treasure Chest. On the Jolly Roger, Sharky and Bones recap the experience with the Grim Buccaneer, and Captain Hook mentions it wasn't that scary and is not afraid when smoke comes from inside the Jolly Roger. Thinking it's the Grim Buccaneer, he swims away, but it is actually Mr. Smee with the supper he prepared for Captain Hook.
