Mystic Rhythms was a musical stage show at Tokyo DisneySea. It used to perform at the Hangar Stage in Lost River Delta at Tokyo DisneySea. It was an opening day stunt show that used to perform for a decade and was Tokyo DisneySea's long-running show and used to be the park's most popular show prior to its discontinuation in 2015.

Show summary[]

Mystic Rhythms was a live show at Tokyo DisneySea containing a story centered around nature and its environments. There was no spoken dialogue featured during the show other than narration occasionally heard giving the audience an understanding of what the show was all about where the dancers would perform in the style of a Cirque du Soleil show through nonverbal pantomime gestures.

The show began with a butterfly, which invited the audience to join them to the stage, followed by a narrator telling the story of life ruled by three spirits: the Earth Spirit that creates and supports life, the Fire Spirit that creates anger and chaos, and the Water Spirit that nurtures and protects all life. The butterfly began to share a legend about the only way to dance with life and become one with being rhythm. As the Water Spirit was introduced, animals such as leopards, crocodiles, birds, and others appeared followed by guardians known as the Bushmen dancing within the rainforest in harmony.

After a while, the Earth Spirit appeared and began playing around the rainforest while humans wearing headdresses arrived, performing a ritual-like rhythm to give life to a stone statue. However, all of a sudden, the Fire Spirit appeared in the show, making the musical more intense, causing them to become furious of what the humans were doing to the rainforest. Afterwards, the fire and water spirits became furious at each other with the rhythm becoming more intense, in addition to the earth spirits getting mixed up in a battle. After the rhythm became silent, the mist cleared away to reveal a bright landscape, bringing peace between the three elements.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of the few shows at Tokyo DisneySea that did not feature any Disney characters, due to it being a completely original IP.
