Napoleon, Wendell, and Floyd are a trio of supporting characters that appeared in the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb. They are (mostly) intelligent flies who make it their goal to be recognized by the much larger humans.
Napoleon is the most intelligent and idealistic of the three. He is motivated to be seen and heard by his more prominent ecological brethren. While he is much more refined and certainly more able than his compatriots, he is prone to making mistakes due to his own miscalculations, implying that he isn't as smart as he thinks he is. Napoleon is very determined however and never gives up in his quest for recognition.
Wendell is much more happy-go-lucky and in come cases, very sycophantic towards Napoleon. He occasionally shows signs of being intelligent in his own right, but he either doesn't have the maturity to delve into it, or gets sequestered by his older teammate. Wendell is very supportive of his friends, and looks on the bright side of things, even if they fail in their excursions.
Floyd is not very bright. As a matter of fact, he doesn't seem to have any qualities that signify any awareness whatsoever. He acts more like an extra hand to the group and only interjects things that barely, if ever, have anything to do with what they are doing. His intelligence is apparently the result of frequent abuse of some kind as he briefly became self-aware after a hit to the head.
Physical appearances[]
All three have the same particular fly-like qualities with long skinny antennae. Beyond that, the three are very distinct in color and appearance.
Napoleon, the tallest of the three, is purple in color, with a taller head and segmented body. His eyes are the most normal of the three and are brown in color. Wendell, the middle sized, is predominantly yellowish-brown, but his body has a darker shelled look to it (making him resemble more a junebug). He has a shorter head and two large oval shaped eyes with purple irises. Finally, Floyd is the shortest and most crooked looking of the three. He is green with a furry body and has brown limbs. His eyes (which have green irises) are misshapen as are his antennae.

Trivia[]
The Bug Trio are actually the first characters that Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh created when developing their series. They were to be the third story that played every episode, so while Candace attempted to bust Phineas and Ferb, and Perry the Platypus did battle with Dr. Doofenshmirtz, the trio would attempt to be heard by the humans, only to be thwarted every chance. They were removed when it became apparent that their story made the episodes too complicated. Their two appearances in "Doof 101" and "O.W.C.A. Files" were attempts at trying to reintegrate them back into the series. When both backdoor pilots failed to get picked up, the characters' existence was permanently made void.
