Nasim Pedrad is an Iranian-American actress, writer, and comedian, best known for her five seasons as a cast member in Saturday Night Live from 2009 to 2014. She has since gone on to co-star in sitcoms, such as Mulaney, Scream Queens, People of Earth, and New Girl. She also voiced Isabella, the Once-ler's mother, in the 2012 adaptation of The Lorax.
For Disney, she played Dalia in the 2019 live-action remake of Aladdin and Ms. Genevieve in Just Beyond. She also voices Zia Zanna in Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.
Early life[]
Pedrad was born in Tehran, Iran. Her parents are Arasteh Amani and Parviz Pedrad. Pedrad's family immigrated to the United States in 1984 when she was two years old. Her younger sister is comedy writer Nina Pedrad. Both sisters are fluent in Persian. The sisters were raised in Irvine, California, and graduated from University High School. Nasim graduated from UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television in 2003. She was a member of the UCLA Spring Sing Company.
