Please, don't let me die!
―Navarro's terrified final words

Navarro is a supporting character in the 2024 sci-fi horror film Alien: Romulus. She is part of a group scavengers that accidentally encounter the dangerous Xenomorphs.

Background[]

Personality[]

Navarro is a very reserved, yet principled person. She is a good worker and friend, yet despite being a very mature person, she dates the very immature Bjorn who seems to humor her. She can be very handy and is easily impressed by new technology, as evidenced by her taking the x-ray scanner for her own amusement. She would be a valued asset to the scavengers if it weren't for her unfortunate passing.

Role in the film[]

Navarro lived on Jackson's Star with her boyfriend Bjorn and his cousins Tyler and Kay Harrison, the latter of whom was pregnant, though the others were unaware of this. They were already making plans to leave the work planet to travel to Yvaga on their own. Lacking cryo-pods needed for the nine-year journey, they were in luck to discover a space lab from Weyland-Yutani had just entered their atmosphere. Knowing that it would most likely contain disused, but still active equipment. The group made plans to fly to it and take what was needed. To do so, they hired Rain Carradine and her synthezoid brother Andy to aid in their mission.

The group flew to the lab, dubbed Romulus and Remus, with their own small cargo ship the Corbelan. Navarro initially stayed on board with Rain and Kay, while Tyler, Bjorn, and Andy ventured into the labs. When the three men found themselves trapped within a lab with active Facehuggers, Navarro and Rain quickly went to their rescue by supplying Andy with a chip from a partially eaten away synthezoid. The group raced back with the Facehuggers in pursuit, but unfortunately one of them latched onto Navarro, knocking her out.

The group managed to successfully remove the Facehugger using a tube of cryo-fuel. Despite this, the disused synthezoid, identified as Rook, warns them that the Facehugger had already accomplished implanting a seed within Navarro. Refusing to kill her at Rook's suggestion, Bjorn forces Navarro back to the Corbelan, leaving Tyler, Rain, and Andy behind. Navarro begins to suffer from seizures with Kay by her side. Her foot pushes the controls of the ship, causing it to crash through the Romulus' jet engine. They manage to land in the carrier, but Navarro, terrified by what was happening to her, is unfortunately killed when a new Xenomorph burst from her chest.

Trivia[]

  • Navarro serves as the poster child for Alien: Romulus. Aside from the fact that her death was spoiled early in the trailers, the predominant poster portrays the facehugger attaching itself to her face.
  • Navarro holds the distinction of being the first Xenomorph victim in an Alien film under the new Disney ownership.
  • This is Aileen Wu's feature film debut.
