"Never Meet Your Mailboxes" is the second segment of the thirty-third episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Kiff and Barry meet their favorite actor… but does he not like them?
Plot[]
While dining at Sips Soda Fountain and watching Let's Table That on the restaurant's TV, Kiff and Barry are excited to learn that Chubbles Wubbington will be filming a movie at Table Town Studios that day. The duo decide to visit the studio complex in the hope of meeting Chubbles and getting a selfie with him. Outside the studio gates, they spot Chubbles' limo and take some selfies, but are unable to get a clear view of him. Barry then notices a large group of actors dressed in costumes strongly resembling himself and Kiff, and he hatches a plan to sneak inside. Instead of the more logical approach of blending in with the group, the plan ends up consisting of Barry and Kiff climbing over the studio lot's walls.
In his trailer, Chubbles speaks with his agent Flam Bingo about his discomfort with playing a character who hates children in his new movie, Rude Mailbox. Flam suggests that method acting can help Chubbles get into character more easily. Spotting Kiff and Barry outside the trailer, Flam proposes hiring them so that Chubbles can method act with real children. Chubbles agrees on the condition that the duo be made aware of the plan beforehand. Approached by Flam, Kiff and Barry eagerly accept his invitation to meet Chubbles, but Flam is interrupted by a phone call and fails to tell the two that Chubbles will be interacting with them in character. The duo then head to Chubbles' trailer to meet him. Wrongly assuming that Flam informed them about his intention to method act, Chubbles acts aggressively toward Kiff and Barry and snaps at their request for a selfie with him.
Back at the Chatterley residence, Kiff and Barry are still shaken by their encounter with Chubbles. Their disappointment turns to confusion when they receive a singing telegram from Chubbles thanking them and inviting them to work with him again. Thinking he wants to apologize for his behavior, Kiff and Barry return to the film set and meet with Chubbles again, only to receive the same rude treatment as before. On their way out of the studio, they receive another invite to return from Chubbles. Soon, the duo end up in a continuous cycle of being mistreated by Chubbles yet being asked to come back to work with him.
On a coffee run for Chubbles at Pawva's Java, Kiff and Barry come across the phrase "Hurt people... hurt people" written on the café's "daily inspirations" board, leading them to wonder if Chubbles' past molded his current personality. They visit Chubbles' mother at her home to learn more about Chubbles, only to discover that not only was Chubbles a happy and popular child, but that he has always treated his fans well, with his mother even having a "selfie wall" in her home full of selfies of Chubbles with fans.
Defeated, Kiff and Barry head back to Sips and vow never to watch any Chubbles movies ever again. Soon after, Let's Table That, which is again playing on the TV, debuts the trailer for Rude Mailbox, and Chubbles himself appears on the program, thanking his rehearsal partners for helping him method act as his character in the film. Kiff and Barry remain unaware that Chubbles is talking about them until they find themselves tracked down by the Let's Table That crew for a live interview and presented with VIP passes to the Rude Mailbox premiere, courtesy of Chubbles and the studio.
At the premiere, Chubbles approaches Kiff and Barry to thank them personally. When he offers to finally take a selfie with them, however, he is coldly rebuffed by the duo, to his shock. Kiff and Barry then burst into laughter, having only wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine as a joke, and Chubbles happily lifts the duo on his shoulders to take a selfie with them. Chubbles' mother is later seen hanging the photo on her selfie wall.
