The New Holland Pet Cemetery is a location from Frankenweenie.
Background[]
This pet cemetery is a graveyard for the final resting places of animals who have passed away - mostly consisting graves of vertebrate animals. Ever since Sparky was struck by a car and killed, Victor and his family went to the cemetery to bury Sparky whose grave forms the shape of two bones forming a cross with an image of a Bull Terrier engraved on it. When Victor studied the subject of electricity at school, it reminded him to revive Sparky, inspiring him to do a similar process of what was done to a frog at school but onto Sparky instead. Victor was able to experiment electricity on Sparky and bring him to life.
Appearances[]
Frankenweenie[]
After Sparky was hit by a car, Victor and his parents visited the pet cemetery to bury Victor's pet dog into a grave shown in the shape of two bones forming a cross just as Victor mourns over his dog's death. After attending science class where Victor learns a subject of how electricity works on animating a motionless frog, he feels inspired of planning to revive Sparky which he drew on his notebook, leading Victor to return to Sparky's grave and then use various contraptions to revive Sparky in a plan for lightning to generate electricity onto his pet dog to bring him to life at home. The plan to revive Sparky was successful.
Later when it was found out that Victor revived Sparky, it inspired Edgar, Bob, Toshiaki, Nassor, and the Weird Girl to do the same thing Victor did to Sparky albeit using different animals. Nassor and Toshiaki visit the pet cemetery respectively where Nassor places the wiring on Colossus' mausoleum and Toshiaki digs into Shelley's grave and retrieves her remains which he obtained from the grave. This plan resulted into the pets mutating into monstrous creatures rampaging across the Dutch Day festival. Victor suddenly finds Sparky who returned to his own grave in a plan to fund him across the streets. However, Bob (who is behind the cemetery) came and alerted Victor about the Sea-Monkeys going on a rampage across the Dutch Day carnival, leading Victor to stop them, followed by Shelley and Colossus.
Trivia[]
- In the original 1984 short, the pet cemetery was simply an unnamed cemetery, unlike the one in the 2012 film where it was given a unique name, due to the location being set in New Holland.
