New Orleans Square is a themed land at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. A similarly themed area can be found at the Adventureland of Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. Based on 19th-century New Orleans, it was the first new land to be added to Disneyland after the park's opening. It was opened to public on July 24, 1966. The name is considered a misnomer, since the area does not resemble a square, but rathera an intricate series of "streets" that weave around shops, restaurants, and the first Pirates of the Caribbean show building. It is a popular area of the park in the evening.
