Nightcrawler (real name Kurt Wagner) is a character who appears in the Marvel Studios Animation series X-Men '97. He is a mutant superhero who can teleport in a puff of smoke.
Nightcrawler was created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum.
Teleportation: Nightcrawler has the ability to teleport from one place to another, leaving behind a cloud of smoke which makes a characteristic "bamf" sound. He has to know where exactly the place is, otherwise, he might accidentally end up in a wall.
Fencing: Nightcrawler is a skilled swordsman. He can fight with three swords at once, using both of his hands and tail.
Role in the series[]
Nightcrawler first appears in the episode "Remember It" where he is shown to be a resident of Genosha. He is happy to be reunited with his friends Rogue and Gambit whom he takes around the island. When the Tri-Sentinel attacks Genosha, he rescues the two from danger, but is severely injured. Following Gambit's death, Nightcrawler becomes an official member of the X-Men to honor his fallen friend.
In "Bright Eyes" he gives the eulogy at Gambit's funeral, and later finds Rogue and comforts her.
