"Nin-dependence" is the second segment of the twenty-ninth episode of the Disney Channel animated series, The Ghost and Molly McGee.

Synopsis[]

When Grandma Nin is no longer able to live on her own, Molly and Sharon take care of her.

Plot[]

After having a second fall and spraining her arm, the McGees invite Grandma Nin to move in with them as they cannot risk her having another accident. While reluctant, she ultimately agrees and the McGees and Scratch begin to fix up the house for her arrival, proofing everything so that they can avoid her injuring herself. Nin arrives and is immediately tended to by everyone. While relaxed at first, Nin begins to dislike the immediate attention she keeps getting with Scratch insisting that he carry her everywhere, Pete collecting as much flowers as he can, and Molly, Sharon and Darryl all using their skills to make sure that Nin is properly taken care of.

Nin takes notice of the other elders who are walking around outside and wishes she can join them. After trying to sneak out and getting caught, Nin offers each of the family members a task for her. Molly must get a book in Portuguese and a Portuguese translator, Sharon must get a chocolate-lemon fragrance candle, Darryl must get an expensive item in silver, and Darryl must get a relaxing bath product. She later sends Scratch to get an extravagant pizza. As soon as the whole family returns, they realize that Nin is missing and become convinced that she got lost or that someone kidnapped her, when in actuality, she is trying to avoid them.

As Nin celebrates her freedom, she suddenly gets dizzy and collapses where she is found by someone. Scratch and the McGees are at home when they receive a phone call from a deep voiced person asking that they bring Nin her luggage. Convinced that they are kidnappers, they head to the meeting place, only to find that it is the retirement home and that it was Patty and her friends (the deep voice was due to Bobby Daniels' phone getting messed with). Nin refuses to go home due to all the coddling and reveals that the nursing home has everything that she has ever wanted and wants to stay with her new friends. The McGees and Scratch finally agree and let Nin stay instead.

Trivia[]

  • Morals
    • You shouldn't go overboard when protecting your guest, it's also important to give them some alone time every now and then.
    • Like it or not, you’re going to get older, and part of getting older means that there is going to be one or two things you can’t do anymore without help, so you’ll have to be willing to accept that sometimes.
  • Grandma Nin officially moves into the Brighton Nursing Home.
  • Nin replaces Molly in the title card.
  • The chens were originally going to appear in this episode but they didn't.
