"No Thank You" is the first segment of the fifty-ninth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Kiff and Barry help a high schooler throw a great party.
Plot[]
While seesawing in the playground, Kiff and Barry notice Ben Bamboo, Vanilla Tigner, and Danny Wibbon sitting and talking together at a nearby table. Interested in potential gossip, the duo sneak off to eavesdrop on the teenagers' conversation. Danny talks about his house party later that night and mentions that he forgot to buy balloons, but no longer can because no balloon stores in town are still open. Hearing this, Barry nonchalantly walks up to the teenagers to offer some balloons, which the Bunses have a surplus of because Balloon Depot accidentally sent Mary 10,000 balloons instead of 10 when she ordered some for her boss' birthday. Danny accepts the offer and invites Barry and Kiff to stay for the party after bringing the balloons to his house.
Kiff and Barry visit the Wibbon residence at 6:00 p.m. for the party, but nobody has arrived yet, which Danny explains is because high school kids like to arrive fashionably late. Nonetheless, Kiff and Barry are still excited to be at a high school party, and at Danny's request, they help prepare the house for the party in the meantime. After the duo complete Danny's list of tasks for them, Barry notices that they have done an unusually large amount of work for the party by themselves, including doing basic household chores, but Kiff insists that chipping in is simply how high school parties work.
Later at the party, while the teenagers enjoy themselves, Kiff and Barry stand by the door to collect coats and give tickets. Although Kiff remains optimistic, Barry finds that being at the party feels more like a job. The duo also run into Trevor, who like them has apparently been invited to the party only as hired help. Danny then asks Kiff and Barry if he can borrow one of their TVs for the party, as his TV is on the fritz.
While Kiff and Barry walk through downtown Table Town carrying the TV to Danny's house, Barry mentions that Danny has not thanked them for anything they have done for the party. Kiff figures that Danny has thanked them at least once, but Barry points out that every time they agree to one of Danny's requests, he says "Rock and roll." rather than actually thanking them. Kiff suggests that Danny is simply waiting until the end of the party to thank them in front of all the guests, and she tells Barry that they should double down and be extra helpful to make it impossible for Danny not to thank them.
Kiff and Barry take the extra step of serving milkshakes at the party, which are a hit with the guests. When the duo make one for Danny, however, instead of thanking them, he once again says "Rock and roll." Danny then calls everyone to the living room, where he lifts Kiff and Barry on his shoulders and gives a speech enthusiastically thanking them for making the party possible. As Kiff basks in the guests' applause, she suddenly snaps back to reality, having imagined the whole speech. Everyone is then called to the living room, and Kiff thinks her fantasy is about to play out in real life. Lifting Kiff and Barry on his shoulders, Danny makes an announcement – not to thank the duo, however, but to tell the guests to give Kiff and Barry their trash on the way out so the two can take the collected trash to the dump.
At the end of the night, Kiff and Barry find themselves collecting everyone's trash. After all the guests have left, Danny notices Kiff and Barry scowling at him and asks them if they are okay. They make one last attempt to signal to Danny that he has not yet thanked them, but their hints go over his head and all he can say is "Rock and roll." Ben and Vanilla then come back to compliment how much better the party was than Danny's last party, which had almost nothing prepared, and say thanks. Danny thinks they are thanking him, but Ben and Vanilla clarify that they are actually thanking Kiff and Barry, who are standing just behind Danny.
Before leaving, Vanilla tells Kiff and Barry that she hopes they can make it to Danny's next party too. Afterwards, Kiff and Barry finally give Danny an ultimatum: they will take the trash to the dump and even return to plan his next party if he thanks them just once. Danny agrees, but despite repeatedly trying to correct himself, he finds himself unable not to say "Rock and roll."
Disappointed by their experience at the party, Kiff and Barry return to the Chatterley residence, where Beryl prepares bowls of ice cream for them. Still in bad moods, the two forget to thank Beryl. When Beryl remarks that a thank-you would be appreciated, Kiff and Barry reply that it indeed would, then thank her. The three share a laugh.
Back at the Wibbon residence, Danny lies awake in bed. Trevor, who has not yet left, tells Danny that Danny only needs him, not Kiff and Barry, then repeats Danny's catchphrase as he turns off Danny's bedroom lights.
