Noma Dumezweni is a South African-British actress, who has appeared in many stage, screen, and radio productions. For Disney, she portrayed Penny Farthing in Mary Poppins Returns and Queen Selina in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
Born in Mbabane, Swaziland (present-day Eswatini) in 1969 to South African parents, she arrived in England as a refugee in 1992 with her sister and mother. She first lived in Felixstowe, Suffolk, where she was educated, before moving to London.
Active in theater since the 1990s, Dumezweni appeared in productions such as Much Ado About Nothing, Six Characters in Search of an Author, Belong, The Winter's Tale, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Antony and Cleopatra, Henry V, A Human Being Died That Night, and A Doll's House, Part 2. She has won two Laurence Olivier Awards for her performances in A Raisin in the Sun and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, in which she played Hermione Granger.
While appearing in films like The Kid Who Would Be King, Dumezweni frequently appeared on television shows such as Doctor Who, Made for Love, Frankie, Capital, The Undoing, The Watcher, Shameless, EastEnders, Casualty, Black Earth Rising, Made for Love and Only Murders in the Building.
