"Not a Monkey" is the first half of the 21st episode of Dave the Barbarian.
Synopsis[]
Fang gets an illness, so Dave take her to barber Ian, who is also an amateur doctor. He says that Fang is allergic to her own eyeballs, an allergy that only monkeys usually get. Fang is then told the only cure is a special berry that only comes from the island of lost sunglasses far away, but it only works on monkeys. After a long cruise, they reach the island. Shortly after the group arrives, they are scattered by a herd of rhinos, but Fang is saved by a pack of monkeys that coincidentally look just like her, and Fang begins to wonder if she actually IS a monkey. They accept her at first, but when she eats the berries and isn't cured, Fang realizes she is not a monkey. But she is in trouble when she tells the monkeys she wasn't one is gets chased by them. She then runs into Dave, Faffy, and Lula. Dave explains he was taken in by a family of gorillas and Faffy was taken by a family of lemons while Lula stayed in a hotel on the island. Eventually the gorillas and lemons found out that Dave and Faffy weren't one of them respectively and everyone was mad. At that moment, the monkeys, gorillas, and lemon arrive, and Fang asks them why they were mad. The monkeys were mad because they didn't have tails, the gorillas were mad because of their pink ears, and the lemons were mad because they have limbs. Fang tries to convince them they were not so different, but causes a fight between the three groups. After returning home, Oswidge discovers that Fang was actually sneezing because of a sneeze gremlin in her nose and removes it.
Trivia[]
- When the lemons, monkeys and gorillas begins chasing the group, Fang says "Monkeys and lemons and apes!" followed by Dave saying "Oh my!" This is a reference to The Wizard of Oz song "Lions and Tigers and Bears".
