"O, We're Going Home" is a song sung by a school of stingrays in the 2016 Disney/Pixar animated film, Finding Dory.
Background[]
It is sung where Mr. Ray tells his class about the stingray migration, a journey where the rays travel back home, as he takes the class to the spot where the stingray migration shows up. There, he tells his class to be careful whenever they see the school of stingrays, they must avoid staying in their path as their path can lead them to the undertow. Looking at the stingrays, Dory, who was staring at the seaweed thinking about her past, accidentally gets swooped up by the stingray swarm, knocking her out unconsciously.
Lyrics[]
Stingrays: O, we're going home
Swimming to and fro, our hearts know where to go
Beating like a drum, it sends us back to where we're from
O, we're going home
We know who we are and it's time to travel far
For days and nights, we'll roam
To make our way back home
O, we're going home
Swimming to and fro, our hearts know where to go
Beating like a drum, it sends us back to where we're from
O, we're going home
We know who we are and it's time to travel far
(fade)
Trivia[]
- The English audio description for Finding Dory identifies the stingrays that sing during the migration as "eagle rays" (curiously, the same species of Mr. Ray). It is unclear if the stingrays are spotted eagle rays or not.
