"O, Were Blood Thicker Than Robot Juice!" is the eighth episode of the first season of M.O.D.O.K. It premiered on Hulu on May 21, 2021.

Synopsis[]

The time travelling Young M.O.D.O.K. finally exacts his revenge by kidnapping the family and pitting them against each other in a twisted family therapy / battle to the death.

Plot[]

MODOK awakens from a night of love making with Jodie; confused by her sudden change in relationship with him. As he tries to reason that the whole thing was a mistake, Jodie insists otherwise and that she is happy to be back with him. Melissa and Lou enter with a plate of breakfast for MODOK, while also being disturbingly okay with the knowledge that they had sex, and he happily concedes that they are back together as a family. However, the events are being viewed on a television screen by the real Jodie, Melissa and Lou who are all tied to chairs and forced to watch their dad enjoy fake recreations of his family. They call for help, but no one can hear them.

As MODOK basks in his compliant robot family, the real Tarletons watch helplessly until they are visited by the younger MODOK, though they do not seem surprised by this twist. He tells them that he wants his future self to return to his path of being the greatest villain and blames them for ruining that for him. He further reveals that Super-Adaptoid has helped him (again, the family is not at all surprised) and tells them that he plans to kill them with slow moving poison needles all while they watch MODOK be entranced with his perfect and ideal family. While the Tarletons claim that he will eventually figure out the truth, younger MODOK does not think so.

MODOK is pleased to hear that "Lou" no longer wants to do magic at his Bar Mitzvah and "Melissa" suggests they form a family band, much to MODOK's joy. The real Tarletons realize that they can control their Roomba through Melissa's GRUMBL watch and have it head down into the basement to collect marbles. MODOK and the robot family play in their band where "Jodie" suggests they renew their wedding vows; making him happy. Roomba leaves behind the marbles to spell robot, but "Jodie" steps on them. However, she slips and cracks her face off; revealing her robot self, but MODOK does not seem phased by this at all and reattaches her face and agrees to renew the wedding vows.

The Tarletons agree that MODOK has cracked and begin to argue among themselves. After Lou tries, and fails, to think that he may have latent abilities, Melissa suggests that Jodie seduce young MODOK, which she refuses, though she does offer an alternative scenario. She deduces that Melissa is upset at her because she hastily moved on to Wonder Man after splitting from MODOK and Melissa agrees as she hated him and had to see one of his movies. Lou agrees, but adds that they should think about MODOK. Jodie calls him out for defending him instead of her and Melissa tells Lou that he needs to stand up for himself as she did give him a peanut allergy. Their argument is gleefully watched by young MODOK.

MODOK prepares to renew his vows with the robot Jodie, but as he gets up to the podium, he suddenly glitches and explodes; revealing that the he was a robot this whole time. The Tarletons are surprised by this revelation as the poison needles suddenly retract and they are able to escape their chairs and leave the room. Upon doing so however, it is revealed that each of the family members is with robot duplicates. MODOK manages to find his way to them, but encounters the three copies of his family before they are all confronted by young MODOK, Super-Adaptoid, and Arcade who reveal that they are in the latter's domain: Murderworld.

Arcade has all the originals and robot doubles mixed up while also adding two robot MODOKs. The young MODOK gives them a clue in that the robots will have a chip in their head. Melissa eagerly kills her robot doubles while one of the robot Lous accidentally kills himself. MODOK kills one of the robot Jodies when he thinks he got their wedding date wrong; allowing Melissa to kill the other two MODOKs as they guessed it right. Arcade sends two giant pinballs to mess with them and one of the Jodies allows herself to be killed so that they can all escape; revealing that she was the second robot double. Left with two Lous, they decide to leave both of them alive as they have become friends. Left with more time on the clock, MODOK beckons his younger self to fight him; upsetting Arcade who escapes.

Young MODOK rips MODOK's vital organ and Jodie retaliates by ripping him in half and taking a piece of him. Melissa uses it to help save MODOK. Despite the incident being traumatizing, MODOK suggests that they all go out to eat. They welcome the idea of having two Lous as the family soon laughs over everything that happened. Super-Adaptoid arrives and apologizes for betraying them, but Melissa tells him that he betrays them all the time and resets him. When Super-Adaptoid asks for MODOK's food, he tells him no, once again setting him back up to being envious.
