The Obelisk, also known as Diviners are items constructed by the Kree thousands years ago. According to Calvin Zabo, it is known as "the Diviner". It is first unearthed in 1945 and recovered by the SSR from HYDRA making it the first 0-8-4 identified object by S.H.I.E.L.D. By physical touch "The Obelisk" can kill people and affects human skin by visibly turning the section that touched it black. It is a silvery color in the form of an abstract shape.
When opened, it is revealed it is a Terrigen Bomb, and when put in a Terrigen chamber, released the Mist which gives the potential Inhumans their powers.
History[]
In 1945, the Diviner was confiscated by the SSR from HYDRA. After being picked up by Raina, the Obelisk does not kill her. Instead, it glows and shows markings of the same style as John Garrett and Phil Coulson carvings.
After picking up the Obelisk and activating it, Raina informs Zabo, that the Obelisk works. Zabo corrects her and notes that it let her live. He promises to tell Raina more about the Obelisk if she will bring his daughter to him.
Calvin Zabo brought the Diviner to the facilities of HYDRA and promised to Whitehall teach him the secrets of Diviner. Before meeting Zabo, Whitehall to convert the Diviner into a weapon. Frustrated that their best scientists didn't progress with the Diviner, Whitehall calls Zabo who informs him that was a key to reaching a lost city.
Later, Zabo tells Coulson that the Diviner is the key to finding an ancient temple, Coulson asked if it was like Tesseract but Zabo not know it was that. Whitehall forces Skye to touch the Diviner when she touches the Diviner, this begins to shine. While Raina and Skye talk, suddenly the Diviner started to float and moved to a pedestal. Agent Triplett was killed when the crystals exploded. A man without eyes has another diviner.
